Dear Gubser Families,

Hello! I hope this letter finds you enjoying a summer filled with fun times for your family. The Gubser Staff is very excited to have students and the community back at school this fall. The 2018-2019 school year will be a great one!

Just a reminder of our start time this year.

Doors will open at 8:45 for students eating breakfast and 9:00 for all other students. School begins at 9:15 and dismissal will be at 3:40. Please note that there will be no early checkouts after 3:10. This is to protect the learning time from interruptions.

We have some new staff members who are excited to join the Gubser Team:

Construction

This year, our district is beginning construction on several bond projects thanks to your generous support. You will soon notice that Gubser will start construction on our new cafeteria and kitchen and several new classrooms. In the meantime, we’ve added a couple portable classrooms to help ease crowding. We appreciate your patience this year as we create extra dust and noise from construction!

Attendance

I want to take a moment to urge you to closely monitor your child’s attendance. Many parents do not realize the cumulative nature of absences. Sadly, our school’s attendance rate is much lower than it should be. We have many students with chronic attendance issues. For your information, the average student in the district would be absent about one to one-and-a-half days per month.

Calendar of Events

Please review the calendar of events on the back of this letter. I would like to invite you to join us for our Open House Tuesday, September 4th, 4:30-6 PM. All Keizer elementary schools are posting class lists inside during Open House night and during the first week of school to ensure student privacy and safety. Please remember that we will not be changing room assignments that evening or during the first ten days of school, which is a practice common to all schools.
